Great Caravan Parks in North Wales

North Wales is a popular tourist destination within the UK for a 'staycation' where you choose to holiday within your own country instead of going abroad. One of the most popular forms of staycation is a caravan holiday and North Wales has some great sites to choose from. As well as a good number of larger parks run by the large operators such as Park Resorts and Haven there are also alot of privately owned caravan parks with a mixture of both static caravans and touring pitches.

One of the most popular areas for a static caravan holiday in North Wales is the coastal area from Prestatyn to Abergele. There's a wide selection to choose from including the Haven and Park Resorts sites at Prestatyn and Kimnel Bay. The advantage of a larger park is you'll have plenty of onsite entertainment to keep both you and the kids busy. Both Park Resorts and Haven operate onsite entertainment complexes and there's also a host of other facilities and onsite restaurant if you don't fancy cooking.

Prestatyn is a great location as it's easy to reach by car or train and has an amazing beach. The area is also well suited for tourism and there's a good number of nearby attractions and facilities within a few minutes including the Rhyl Suncentre and Apollo Cinema on Rhyl promenade. On the other side of Rhyl is Kinmel Bay where there's a wide selection of entertainment facilities and a variety of different caravan parks to choose from.

If you venture further along the coast Llandudno has a few caravan parks within easy reach including one on Conwy Morfa with excellent views across the bay to Llandudno and Anglesey. Speaking of Anglesey you'll find a number of privately owned parks suitable for touring pitches and static caravan holidays. The areas around Beaumaris and Rhosneigr are both popular. If you head down the west coast of North Wales you'll reach the Llyn Peninsula which is home to Haven's second North Wales caravan park near the town of Porthmadog. There's also a good number of privately owned parks on the Llyn Peninsula and the area's around Abersoch and Criccieth are very popular and have great beaches.

Finally if you head further south to the areas of southern Snowdonia you can find privately owned static caravan parks around Harlech and Barmouth that all provide great holiday destinations. All this of course ignores the possibilities of staying further inland and a caravan park in Snowdonia is the ideal location for a bit of exploration to view the stunning countryside of Wales largest national park. Parks are available close to Mount Snowdon at Beddgellert and on the opposite side at Betws-y-Coed. Whilst the inland parks don't necessarily have the same number of tourist related facilities and nearby entertainment you do get plenty of stunning countryside to explore. If stunning countryside and mountain walks are your thing then an inland park is probably a better choice.
